Kia America has given another review for specific Model Year 2008-2009
Kia Sportage vehicles because of a proceeded with chance of fire and firmly
encourages proprietors of these vehicles to leave their vehicles outside and
away from homes and different designs until their vehicles have been fixed.
A motor compartment fire beginning from around the Water powered
Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may happen while the vehicle is left or being
driven. These vehicles were recently reviewed in 2016, and proprietors should
have their vehicles fixed again under this new review. The review fix is a work
in progress. Proprietor notice letters are supposed to be sent December 22, 2022.
Proprietors might contact Kia client support at 800-333-4542. Kia's number
for this review is SC253. Vehicle proprietors can visit NHTSA.gov/reviews and
enter their 17-digit vehicle ID number to check whether their vehicle is under
review. Proprietors can likewise download NHTSA's SaferCar application for
Apple or Android. Enter the vehicle, tires, vehicle seat, or other vehicle gear,
and the application will push a warning in the event that a review is given.
